Modpack Update and Arma 3 v1.54
Over the last two weeks the Black Watch International tech team has been hard at work on updating our modpack and templates, and today we are happy to announce that they are ready for use. The new modpack is already available for download via the repository, and the server will be updated in time for tonight's op. With this update we are now moving to Arma 3 v1.54, so be sure to undo the rollback and update your Arma 3. Please be aware that the modpack update will require an additional step to install, so please read on for further information and instructions.
The modpack update includes a number of changes and improvements. The map selection has been updated with the introduction of Chernarus Winter, Sugar Lake, Valtatie 5 and old favourite FATA. The USAF modpack has been replaced with a number of standalone aircraft, including improved C-130s, an SU-35, the T-6 Texan II and Mission Enhanced Little Birds. A number of mods have been updated for compatibility with Arma 3 v1.54, including some we made ourselves while we wait for the official releases. Perhaps the biggest addition to the modpack is cTab, which we hope will provide Platoon and Squad leaders with useful tools for managing themselves on the field. Expect training in how to use cTab over the next few days.
On the template side, all of the templates now feature the new Platoon structure, marking the "official" move to it. As a result, the templates now also include an in-game comm card, accessible via the scroll menu, so members can easily find out which frequency to set their radios to. We have also added a new PMC loadout with a nifty randomisation element, as well as numerous bug fixes and updates to the loadouts.
Because of all of the above changes, there are some new gameplay elements to keep in mind. The updated stamina system now means that keeping your weight to a manageable level is more important than ever. ACE medical has received numerous changes, with wounds now requiring multiple bandages of varying types to be healed fully. And best of all, the infamous leg breaking bug is now gone!
To undo the rollback on Arma 3, and update your modpack please perform the following steps:
- In your Steam Library right-click on Arma 3 and go to Properties.
- Go to the Betas tab.
- In the select list above the code field select "NONE - Opt out of all beta programs".
- Click Ok. In the library it should now say "Arma 3" again and it will begin downloading the update (2.2GB).
- Once your Arma 3 has been updated, open up Arma3Sync and update your modpack as normal.
- Once the modpack is up to date, open the @BWI_Userconfig folder in your Arma 3 directory.
- Double-click the copyToUserconfig.bat file which will copy required files to your Arma 3\userconfig directory. You may copy these manually if you prefer.
A full changelog for both the modpack and templates will be available in the forums as always. Big thanks to everyone on the tech team for their hard work!
