Modpack, Addons, Templates Update 30NOV2017

Home » News

In the works for the last few months, we are today releasing the latest updates to our Modpack, Addons and Templates. As well as new mods and some significant gameplay changes, the details of how to connect to our Arma3Sync repository have changed. Please read on for details of what has changed, and how to get started with downloading the update (4-6GB).

Modpack

Now including the latest version of RHS, a number of new vehicles and weapons are available in the modpack. For rotary pilots, RHS have updated the flight models on nearly all of the helicopters, while fixed wing pilots can fly the new Mig-29. Those who like to keep their feet on the ground may prefer the new MRAPs though. All of the new RHS content is supported in our own addons, and the new weapons have been added to loadouts where appropriate. This includes the new M3 MAAWS.

In part to better support other mods such as JSRS, we have now included the full NIArms Arsenal. This has added a number of interesting new weapons that we have integrated into loadouts as appropriate.

ACE also received an update, including an overhaul of the spectator system. This has taken some development effort on our part to support, but it appears to be working smoother than the old ACE Spectator system.

The JSRS Soundmod, available on our Optionals Repository, has also had an update, including full support for both NIArms and RHS.

A few mods have been removed based on member feedback to try and reduce the size of the modpack slightly. Details can be found in the changelog.

Addons

For this update we are introducing a few new changes to gameplay, as well as the usual expansion of available content.

The first major change we have implemented is a set of custom bandage values for the ACE Medical system. We've not been satisfied with the way bandage efficiency is defined since it was updated by ACE over a year ago. We believe the new configuration is a bit more logical and will be easier for members to recall when in the field. Details of the new configuration can be found in the Medical section of the Field Manual.

The second change is the new Blue Force Tracking configuration, designed to emulate a bit of the challenge we lost with the removal of cTab. Instead of BFT being turned on/off by the mission maker, it is automatically enabled or disabled when you first go through the Deployment Pole, based on the presence of the MicroDAGR in your loadout. The available marker channels are also set, limiting players to group markers only if they don't have BFT.

Players will also find a number of new loadouts in the Armory, including fictionalised versions of the Republic of Korea and Korean People's Republic, German Special Forces (KSK), Russian VMF Spetsnaz (Scuba) and a large expansion in the number of PMC loadouts available. A number of complementary AI factions have also been added.

A full changelog of all the updates and fixed in BWI Addons can be found here.

Templates

Mission makers will want to download and use the new templates for their missions going forward, which can be found on our repository here. Those new to mission making should read the Mission Making Guide before getting started.

However, those with recently designed missions can update them to work with the new modpack by following these steps, which will replicate those in the changelog:

  1. Delete the ACE Blue Force Tracking module.
  2. Open the ACE Weather module and click OK.
  3. Open the Attributes > Multiplayer menu and click OK.
  4. Save the mission.

Repository

Finally, we have updated the repository server and changed it from FTP to HTTP. As a result, some of the connection details have changed. For existing members you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Edit the entry for your live repository in Arma3Sync.
  2. Switch the transfer protocol to HTTP.
  3. In the URL enter the following address: http://repo.blackwatch-int.com/~bwi/live/
  4. Username and password remain the same.

If you use the optional repository (for JSRS), then follow these steps as well:

  1. Edit the entry for your optional repository in Arma3Sync.
  2. Switch the transfer protocol to HTTP.
  3. In the URL enter the following address: http://repo.blackwatch-int.com/~bwi/live-optional/
  4. Username is now just "member". The password remains the same.
